Partner with Gateway and Make a Difference!

Partners Quote

“Youth Art Exchange has enjoyed working with Gateway because they are incredibly welcoming and help us engage young artists, designers, and film-makers."

We Love Our Partners!

It has long been our conviction at Gateway that community partnerships are one of the most effective ways to close the opportunity gap and level the playing field for all students. As such, we actively partner with dozens of organizations throughout San Francisco to bring our students world-class learning experiences, individualized mentorship, leadership opportunities and more – as well as the best possible professional development for our teachers.

Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF)

Two BGCSF Staff

Gateway Middle and High Schools are two of only five school-based Boys & Girls Clubs sites in San Francisco, enabling our students to benefit from not only after-school opportunities, but extra support throughout the school day as well. On our campuses you’ll find BGCSF staff helping with everything from leading high school tutoring sessions to organizing games during middle school recess.

University of San Francisco

The University of San Francisco teamed up with Gateway in Summer 2021 to offer our first-ever summer program, in which student teachers from the university’s School of Education worked with veteran Gateway educators to provide fun, hands-on learning for rising middle school students – a win-win both for the students who participate in the program and the teachers-in-training who receive valuable classroom experience and mentorship. We are excited to continue deepening our partnership with USF through hosting the School of Education's students and teachers-in-training in GHS and GMS classrooms, and having Gateway staff present and teach in classes in the USF education and counseling programs.  In addition, we have plans to continue to partner for annual summer programs for Gateway students.

Facing History and Ourselves

Facing History Logo

Since 2017, Gateway Public Schools has partnered with Facing History and Ourselves, which supports educators in addressing issues of racism, anti-semitism, and prejudice in both historical and contemporary contexts. While most of Facing History’s work is geared toward the high school level, GMS is one of only two partner middle schools in Northern California, adapting Facing History’s content to be suitable for younger learners and infusing it through much of the humanities and advisory curriculum. All GMS faculty completed a year-long Facing History professional development initiative on Race and Equity in Education in 2020-21, and the organization is a presenting partner of Gateway’s annual Powerful Learner’s Conference, as well.
