2020 Resilience Fund

Investing in Gateway's Students and Teachers

Things look a little different right now, but we’re still Gateway. No matter the circumstance, our commitment to our 800 students and 100 educators is unwavering.

In order to do this, we need to raise $250,000 by June 30 to ensure our operations now.

Our Teachers

We are continuing our commitment to supporting teachers in uncertain times:

Thriving in 2020-2021 and Beyond

Next school year brings many unknowns, just like the past several weeks. We have to plan for the future now and ensure our resilience in the future.

We are looking to our community to commit an additional $250,000 in 2020-2021 to ensure Gateway thrives. This may be through multi-year gifts or by making your gift after July 1.

Based on state updates, historical data and contact from institutional funders, we know Gateway will be financially impacted by the current and future economy:

  • State taxes fund public schools and payments are currently deferred to July. In turn, public school funding will not be determined until early winter, after our operating budget is set and school starts.
  • Nonprofits saw a 20% decrease in fundraising 6-9 months after the 2008 recession due to the long-term economic impact on donors. This crisis will be similar or possibly worse.
  • San Francisco’s Prop G funding for teacher salaries – $340,000 for Gateway – is unlikely to be released from litigation next school year.

To make your multi-year gift to the Resilience Fund, please email Chanda Lockhart, Director of Development and Outreach, clockhart@gatewaypublicschools.org. We can provide you with any additional giving information you may need.

Gateway Public Schools is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Tax ID: 94-3278357.
