2020 Resilience Fund

Investing in Gateway's Students and Teachers

Things look a little different right now, but we’re still Gateway. No matter the circumstance, our commitment to our 800 students and 100 educators is unwavering.

In order to do this, we need to raise $250,000 by June 30 to ensure our operations now.

Looking Ahead

Based on state updates, historical data and contact from institutional funders, we know Gateway will be financially impacted by the current and future economy:

  • San Francisco’s Prop J – funds for teacher salaries – does not currently include clear information on what support public charter schools will receive. This replaces the 2018 Prop G for teacher salaries, eliminating $340,000 in certain funds for Gateway.
  • Nonprofits saw a 20% decrease in fundraising 6-9 months after the 2008 recession due to the long-term economic impact on donors. This crisis will be similar or possibly worse.
  • State taxes fund public schools and payments are currently deferred to July. In turn, public school funding will not be determined until early winter, after our operating budget is set and school starts.
