The Teachers Take the Title Again at Gateway’s Second Annual Trivia-Thon

One of Gateway’s newest traditions also made the successful jump to a virtual format this year as our Second Annual Trivia-Thon on February 17 raised more than $5,000 for Gateway’s students and teachers.

Two dozen contestants, primarily young Gateway alumni, battled it out through three rounds of “Through the Decades” trivia, testing their knowledge of events and pop culture from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. While all teams performed admirably, ultimately the faculty team, The Gator Graders, successfully defended their championship from the first Trivia-Thon and enjoyed a decisive win.

Smarts isn’t everything, of course, even in trivia. The evening’s other big prize is the coveted Golden Pig Trophy, awarded to the team that raises the most money for Gateway. This honor went to the Too Fun 2021! team, who raised nearly $2,000 and won the evening’s period-themed costume contest.

“While we couldn't physically be together, it was a true joy to see alumni and friends of Gateway both old and new come together in support of our kids,” said Senior Development Manager Marianne Fives. “ I imagine the competition will only be more intense when our teams can compete in person again!"
