Temporary 8th Grade Humanities Teacher (January - June 2020)

Gateway Middle School

Gateway Middle School, a public charter school in San Francisco, is seeking a temporary Middle School Humanities and Learning Seminar teacher, to teach from January 6, 2020, until the end of the school year (June 5, 2020).  There is potential for this to become a permanent position for 2020-2021 school year.

8th Grade School Humanities and Learning Seminar Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teach two blocks of Humanities, an integrated ELA and social studies course
  • Teach two blocks of Learning Seminar, a unique class focused on learning strategies and literacy skills
  • Collaborate with teaching team to plan curriculum, lessons and assessments 
  • Lead a daily Advisory of 16-18 students, supporting their social-emotional growth and academic learning. 

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to Gateway's mission is essential, including a desire to work with a diverse student body
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
  • Current California credential -- Multiple Subjects or Single Subject (ELA and/or Social Studies) -- OR eligibility to receive an Intern credential
  • Bilingual candidates and candidates of color are strongly encouraged to apply
