There are many ways to get to know Gateway. Our website is an excellent resource for learning more about our school. We also offer a variety of enrollment events, which you can read more about below. Visit our enrollment events calendar to learn about upcoming event dates and registration information.
Enrollment Open Houses
Our enrollment open houses provide a great opportunity to: meet Principal Michael Fuller, attend information sessions hosted by Gateway faculty in each subject area, get to know current Gateway families, as well as learn more about the school’s mission and academic program. No RSVP is necessary to attend. All open houses take place at Gateway High School, located at 1430 Scott Street (between Geary and O'Farrell).

Step Two: Create an Admissions Account
To begin the Gateway High School application process, you must create an admissions account. With your admissions account you will be able to it track the progress of your application, schedule appointments for enrollment events, and view your enrollment status. Incoming 9th Grade Lottery Applicants will have instant access to lottery results.
Step Three: Submit Part One of your Application
Part One of the application is due January 22nd, 2013
The Gateway application is divided into two sections. Part one, to be completed by you and your family, is the only requirement for your application to be entered into the lottery. Log in to your admissions account to access part one of the online application. Please note that in addition to providing demographic and academic information, you and your family must complete short answer questions. The short answer questions can be completed in your native language. By submitting part one of your application by the January deadline, you will automatically be entered into Gateway's lottery for admission.
Step Four: Submit Part Two of your Application
To be completed by your current school.
Part two of Gateway's application includes supplemental forms that must be completed by your current school. These forms can be found online in your admissions account and are not required for you to be entered in the lottery, but we ask that forms be submitted to Gateway by February (exact date TBA). Your teachers can choose to submit your forms directly to Gateway or to give the forms directly to you and you can submit them to Gateway. We encourage you to keep copies of all documentation.
The following supplemental forms are due to Gateway by February 15, 2013:
- English Input Form
- Math Input Form
- Academic Record Release Form
- Resource Teacher/Special Ed Teacher Input Form (and all documentation of Special Education Plan if applicable)
Step Five: Monitor Admissions Account for Receipt of Supplemental Forms
Again, supplemental forms are not required to enter the lottery. You may track the progress of your application by monitoring your admissions account for receipt of supplemental forms by the Gateway Enrollment Office. If all forms are not received by February 15, 2013, we ask that you follow up with your school directly.
Step Six: View lottery Results Mid-March
Lottery results will be available mid-March. Results will be posted to your admissions account and mailed directly to your home. Please pay close attention to deadlines for submitting your enrollment decision.
Step Seven: Post-Lottery Registration
Gateway receives 600 applicants for 125 spots in the incoming 9th grade class. If you are selected through the lottery, you will be instructed to log in to your admissions account to notify us of your enrollment decision and if you choose to enroll, you must complete your registration. If you are not selected through the lottery, you will have the option of joining the wait pool and you will receive further instruction at that time.
